The new extension replaces the existing two storey outrigger and pushes out to the rear, extending the living space at ground floor and creating a new home office space at first floor.

While the upper storeys remain, the existing lower ground storey is reconfigured, bringing the basement kitchen, currently located to the front of the office, into the centre of the space.  A new and bespoke feature staircase links to the existing entrance storey.

In complete contrast to the existing Victorian building, the new extension is expressed in a contemporary timber cladding of contrasting tones, fins and panelling.  Large glazed apertures create a much improved connection with the rear garden and enhance the outlook from the lower storey.

To address the north westerly orientation large rooflights have been incorporated to funnel diffuse light into the heart of the new living space.

A green roof attenuates surface water and provides a natural outlook from the existing upper floor windows.

Internally, elements of the timber structure are expressed.  These are juxtaposed against a modern polished concrete floor and bespoke timber joinery items.
