The new wrap around extension volume infills the triangular side return while projecting further than the existing rear facade and into the garden.

The side infill extension is offset from the existing reception room to create a planted courtyard space which maintains light and ventilation into the main body of the existing dwelling.

To reduce the volume along the boundary wall the extension is carefully crafted and is clad with Accoya timber cladding in an alternating timber edge and flat vertical board arrangement.

Responding to the level changes across the site the new timber clad extension appears to nestle into the existing garden while providing a modern contrast to the existing Victorian facade.

A frameless glass corner window forms an internal seat while enhancing the existing connection to the rear garden and newly formed patio space.

Internally, a rich but simple palette of oak, quartz, and porcelain tiles creates a modern interior that is flooded with natural light and views out onto the existing garden and newly formed planted courtyard.

Marjoram were appointed on the project in 2021 and it completed in the summer of 2024.
