56 Station Road

Kitchen and dining space in Marjoram Architects 56 Station Road Project

Located in Penge, South London, the brief was to adapt and remodel the existing Victorian dwelling to create a large open plan kitchen/dining space to the rear and an additional bedroom with enlarged family bathroom at first floor level.

At ground floor the entire floor plate has been modernised. Within a constrained site and narrow terrace property, the focus of the brief was to create a light and bright space to the rear of the property.

A contemporary large up and over rooflight fills the side return and sucks light into the new kitchen and dining space. The first floor extension cantilevers over the ground floor to create a column free interior.

Corner bi-folding doors create a large opening that provides much improved visual connectivity between the inside and outside and the perception of a much bigger environment when the doors are open.

At first floor level the additional space created accommodates an additional bedroom and much improved family bathroom space.
